The three founders of 3Beaches first crossed paths in 2014 at the Australian Institute of Creative Design, where Sonya Romeo was teaching interior and surface design, and her two future co-founders were among her students. While engaged in property development and design projects, they identified a gap in the market for custom performance fabrics tailored for outdoor use. Sonya Romeo and Niamh Brennan took the initiative to create the artwork that would lead to the development of the Coast Collection.

Initially, the Coast Collection was produced using dye sublimation on various fabric base cloths. However, after testing these fabrics against the elements, it became evident that they were not resilient enough to endure Australia’s severe outdoor conditions. Committed to delivering stylish products of the highest quality, 3Beaches partnered with Sunbrella, a leader in performance fabrics, resulting in the Coast Collection being crafted from 100% Sunbrella acrylic.

Today, two of the original co-founders, Sonya Romeo and Niamh Brennan, continue to lead 3Beaches. They have maintained their collaboration with Sunbrella to design additional collections, including the Coast Collection, Cocoon Collection, Jewel Collection, Auchenflower Collection and their latest collection, Sabi Sands.

In addition to offering performance upholstery fabric by the meter and accessories to wholesale and trade clients, Sonya Romeo and Niamh Brennan have expanded their business to include the distribution of other brands that share their commitment to excellence through the establishment of The Textile & Design Studio (TT|DS).
